Prevention is the only natural cure, though you may find some things to alleviate the symptoms… depending on the person.

Some natural therapies may help to manage symptoms of asthma. For instance, a negative response to emotional stress can cause an asthma attack. Some natural relaxation remedies like deep abdominal breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and biofeedback can help relieve stress.

Other findings suggest that diet plays a role in alleviating asthma symptoms. For example, it’s thought that omega-3 fatty acids found naturally in high-fat fish such as salmon, mackerel, or cod enable the body to make more products that tend to decrease inflammation. Whether or not this may be of benefit to those with asthma is still unproven. Besides being filled with omega-3s, salmon has protein, calcium, magnesium, some carotenoids, and B vitamins. Vitamin B-6 helps to boost the immune system, which is important in preventing disease.

Pros and Cons of Natural Asthma Remedies
As you consider the different types of natural asthma remedies available, it’s of utmost importance to cautiously balance your desire to breathe easier with the possible dangers of the treatment, which may be unknown. Never use any natural dietary supplement without checking first with your doctor or asthma specialist. Some natural herbal products, such as bee pollen, may trigger an asthma attack if you are allergic to the specific plant. Also, never stop using your asthma drugs without your doctor’s knowledge. The result of not following your doctor’s prescribed medical regimen to treat your asthma can be very serious, even life threatening.

If you are uncertain about the claims on a natural dietary supplement product label, call your doctor. A health care professional can assess the product to let you know what it contains.

A cure would involve taking something that will suppress your body’s immune system in such a way that you would no longer react to asthma triggers but will still react to invasion by infectious diseases. No substance, plant, herb, or mineral has been found to do that. Be careful of people who will tell you that there is such a cure. Demand proof and demand good proof. Don’t rely on stories and testimonials because those are biased evidence.

Your best bet would be to prevent getting asthma attacks in the first place. Know the things that will trigger an attack. Pollen, dust, cough and colds are some common triggers. If your doctor gave you medicines to prevent attacks, take them. Do not forget your rescue inhaler.

    Good luck.

Great question! This is the reason why my chiropractor decided to become a chiropractor. He was terribly asthmatic as a child, and it was only after seeing a chiropractor that his symptoms turned around. The chiropractor’s treatment left a profound effect on him.

Check out your yellow pages or network with as many people as possible to find the right chiropractor located in your area. I find most benefit from a chiropractor who also has nutritional education.

Also, PLEASE research inflammatory and anti-inflammatory foods. You could be antagonizing your asthma by eating too much inflammatory foods. nutritiondata.com is a educational site.

    Feel better!

There is no natural or medical cure for asthma for now. There are only treatments for the symptoms. Trying to avoid situation that triggers attacks is the best in prevention. I have allergic asthma and taking Vitamin B6 helps me a lot.

Vitamin D. Many studies have been done on this and a deficiency in vitamin D looks to be the major factor in causing this condition. Vitamin D has been proven to reduce or prevent asthma attacks. Recommended level of Vitamin D is 70ng/mL. Experts recommend taking 5000iu a day of vitamin D.

There are no cures as such for asthma.
There is a treatment involving breathing exercises called the Buteyko method.
Physiologically this hold water better then anything else I have read about or looked at.
It doesn’t cure asthma but users of it need far less medications and some have managed to come off it totally.
There are quite a lot of studies on it so could be worth doing some research.
It is drug free and works on the principle that one of the causes of asthma is the amount of CO2 in the blood. Dr Buteyko observed asthmatics have different breathing patterns to non asthmatics and “overbreath”
The brain can’t measure oxygen but measures CO2 instead. if this drops too low the bronchioles go into spasm causing an asthma atack. This doesn’t happen in everyone so there is obviously some other factors that is in play and breathing is just a part of it. However this may go a long way to healping someone with asthma reduce their medication which is always going to be helpful.
