Question by LORA: Is there a natural cure for a small dog that has acid reflux reaction after eating?
He is well hydrated and acts very healthy but, reacted badly to the vet’s medication. I would like to know if there is a natural treatment that might not have as bad of a reaction?

Has your dog been tested for food allergies or are you positive he just has reflux? Mine had a very hard time with most dog foods, so we had him tested. Turns out he is allergic to TONS of food. He now has to eat Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance in Sweet Potato and Fish. Good luck to you and your lil guy =o)

You need to change his diet to a low-fat, low-protein food and stay away from high-fat foods. Meals should be given in small frequent feedings.

My dog takes pepcid about a half hour before she eats. She also eats out of a raised dish with a tennis ball in it to slow down her eating. It has helped a lot.

If you could find some food that is fairly basic (as in acids and bases, not easy to understand), that might help. Also, you might find it unnatural, but you could add a little baking soda to the food. The dog will burp some, but will be fine.
