Is there an easy and natural cure for a pinched nerve in the neck?

Question by johnpnj: Is there an easy and natural cure for a pinched nerve in the neck?
I’ve had several serious injuries. A motorcycle accident, separated left shoulder playing Hockey, separated right shoulder playing Football.
Anyway, now I get pains in my neck/shoulder/back fairly often, and it appears to be a nerve, as I can almost trace the line of pain.
What is the best thing to do without resorting to medication?

Honestly, you need to get it x-rayed, an MRI if you can.
Try ice packs, and if that doesn’t work, try a heating pad.
Ask your doctor if a traction unit would be a good idea for you to use. It’s basically a neck collar with cord connected and a bag of water at the other end, you throw it over a door, and it pulls your head up, gently stretching your neck. I would get an x-ray first.
All these injuries during sports….a sign mebbe??
😛
You’ll prolly have to give in and take some ibuprofin or tylenol.
Trust me, it’s totally pointless to suffer through pain just because you don’t want to resort to medication.
If you’re hurt, fix it!
I always HATED taking meds, but when I found out that I have pain, that won’t go away, I realized “Hey, this is stupid!”

You’re probably concerned that you’ll become addicted or dependant.
Let me assure you, there is NOTHING wrong with taking a medicine that allows you to function properly.
I am dependant on my pain medications because if I don’t control my pain, I cannot function like a normal human being!
My mother is dependant on seizure meds, my father on his heart meds, what’s the difference?
(btw, physical addiction to any medicine is EXTREMELY rare. Mental addiction, just because you like the feeling, is much more common, and just stupid! :-D)

LOTS of hot baths, and try acupuncture. I think I’m going to trust the opinions of a couple BILLION chinese dudes over the few americans that say it’s BS. 😛
DO NOT go to a chiropractor!!!
Not untill you know EXACTLY what is wrong and, if need be, get it fixed.

You need to be checked for Thorasic Outlet Syndrome, it’s a dangerous condition where the place in your collar/shoulder area where some nerves and your jugular vein go through can be impenging on those nerves and vein.
You would eventually need to see a thorasic surgeon or a cardiologist to check for that
Also get checked for Arm, Shoulder, Hand syndrome. It’s where your arm shoulder hand and sometimes neck are hurting and might have other seemingly random symptoms, but it’s because or a pinched nerve in either your neck or shoulder.
An ElectroMyloGram (EMG) should pinpoint that.

If it’s a pinched nerve, you may need to be put on something like prednisone, it’s a steroidal anti-inflammatory. (as opposed to Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs-NSAIDS- such as Advil or Asprin.)

With all these injuries, you should really be getting to a specialist if you’re still having pain. All sorts of things could be going wrong.

Good luck!
Sheena

Is there a Natural cure for IBS?

Question by nickelbackaddict69: Is there a Natural cure for IBS?
I am suffering from IBS and are sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am currently on daily medications, a strict diet, and I am now exercising daily. The flare-ups are much fewer and far between but it is not totally gone yet. I tried some natural remedies before but they did not work for me. I tried Caltrate tablets, Pepermint softgels, chinese herb tea, fiber supplements, and Aloe Vera Softgels and I am still sick. Is there anything out there that I have not tried that really works?

Best answer:

Answer by oldtimekid2
Have you tried probiotics? I’ve done a lot of research on IBS because both my mother and brother have it and they have both seen HUGE benefits from taking a good probiotic daily. They have both independently told me that they could easily notice when they missed a few days of the probiotics (like when they ran out or forgot).

It’s also common to develop irregularity after taking antibiotics for the same reason, but the probiotics are the beneficial bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract and helps your body absorb the nutrients in your intestinal tract, which helps regularity.
I’d recommend getting a good probiotic with at least 3-5 strains and at least 4-6 billion viable organisms per dose if not more… you may want to try a higher dose at first to replenish everything right away, too. Give it a try for just 1 month and I’m willing to bet you’ll notice a huge difference even within the first couple weeks. Oh, and expect loose stools for the first day or two if you’ve had antibiotics before… it’s perfectly normal as your body’s way of trying to balance itself out and clears up within a day or so.
Good luck and I hope I helped!

Question by 2 Happily Married Americans: is there a natural cure for ear infections and blockage?
i get recurrent ear infections from allergies, and it affects my hearing and causes dizziness. is there anything natural i can do for this, or do i have to keep doing the doctor thing and taking antibiotics?
I did do ear candles before, and they helped some. It was a very relaxing experience too.

Answer by lindzoid3
ear candles, make sure you have a friend help you. They make your ears feel 100% better after doing it and it is soothing feeling. The candles remove the wax from deep within the ear canal which a q tip can’t get to. Find them at local health food stores or vitamin shops.

Is there anything else I can do for swelling (edema) in both legs other than elevating them? Some natural cure?

I’m looking for a natural cure.

Besides elevating your feet to allow the fluid collected in the legs to go to the circulatory system and from there to the kidneys for excretion, here is what I have on Edema (yes, it is copied and pasted, but it is copied from my own website)

Edema is swelling that is caused by fluid trapped in your body’s tissues. Edema happens most often in the feet, ankles, and legs.

Common Causes of Edema are:

Low potassium levels

Congestive Heart Failure

Lung, kidney, and thyroid diseases

Pregnancy

Edema can occur as a result of gravity, especially from sitting or standing in one place for too long. A way to test for edema, even if there is no swelling is to press the suspected area. Ankles are usually the first area affected. If you leave an indentation, edema is present.

If congestive heart failure is present, mix one teaspoon of cayenne pepper in half a cup of lukewarm water. You can use cayenne capsules if this is too difficult.

Exercising in a swimming pool is very effective. The water temperature should be 80 to 90 degrees.

Avoid diuretics. Though diuretics are effective for the flushing out of excess water in the people with the heart, kidney or liver disease, they can also cause rebound edema. Continuous usage will activate the salt and water retaining hormones and when stopped, these hormones are activated and cause water retention.

Diet is very important. Avoid salt and processed foods, pizza, fast foods, junk food, sodas, etc. Avoid salt and eat a low carbohydrate diet. Salt causes body to retain water. Carbohydrate has more water content. Eat protein and fat rich food. Avoid fruits and vegetables because they increase the fluid level in the body.

Mustard oil is an effective home remedy for edema. Take some warm mustard oil and rub it on the affected areas. Soak 2 teaspoons of mustard seeds in water and apply the solution to the affected areas. Apple cider vinegar helps to remove excess fluid in the body cells and cavities.

Supplements which may help edema are potassium and bromelain.

Exercise as much as possible. Exercise has been shown to reduce the water retention by flushing out the water and salt through sweating, higher respiration and increased urine flow. Walking is excellent exercise. If there is shortness of breath while moving, do stationary exercises, such as pointing your toes downward, then raising them up as high as possible. This pumps up the calf and foot muscles. Raising your arms will also help.

Increase fluid intake. Water moves through the kidneys and bladder thus diluting the urine. It becomes easier for the kidneys to flush diluted urine out along with the salt contained in it. Plain water is the best option, since juices, sodas and colas have salt content.

Sip on herbal teas. Many herbs are slightly diuretic. Parsley is the best known one – and it has the added benefit of helping remove toxic heavy metals. Take two teaspoons of dried leaves for each cup of boiling water and steep for ten minutes. Drink three cups a day.

Q&A: Is there a natural cure for astigmatism?

Question by moinjaang: Is there a natural cure for astigmatism?
Is there a natural cure for astigmatism or a proven way to prevent/reduce it?

Before you jump in i would like to state im already aware of options such as wearing glasses (spectacles), toric contact lenses, PRK and lasek eye surgery.
But i would to know if there is an alternative. Something less intrusive, more natural, that someone has personally used or know has been used successfully by another person.

Many thanks

There is orthokeratology, which is wearing lenses at night to flatten the eye and make you see during the day. It is expensive and can cause eye irritation.
I am not aware of any natural ‘cures’ for astigatism, which you have because it is a genetic issue, like the eye color and size of your foot.

Is there a natural cure for Hepatitis C? If not how can it be cured? I read that Hep C now has a 100% cure rate. Is this true.

It is a chronic disease of the liver and there is no cure, or vaccine to prevent it. However, people now live a long time with it as there are many things to treat it and keep it under control, as with HIV. Good luck.

Is There A Natural Infertility Cure Other Than Prescribe Fertility Drugs?

Question by Turbine: Is There A Natural Infertility Cure Other Than Prescribe Fertility Drugs?
My sister in-law is having an infertility problem, and someone
was mentioning something about a natural cure that would help
her.
I just want to know if there is anything that was a proven cure
other than the prescribe fertility drugs that cause so much side
effect?

Best answer:

Answer by Doodlestuff
Unless your SIL has identified the cause of her infertility, it is unlikely she will have a cure. No amount of drugs, for instance, will help in the case of blocked tubes – it requires surgery. No amount of fertility drugs will change anything if your man is shooting blanks.

For women with certain problems, such as PCOS, losing some weight can sometimes help restart fertility. Naturally lowering your testosterone levels using peppermint tea may also be helpful. However, PCOS is an ILLNESS and usually requires some assistance if pregnancy doesn’t come easily.
